Russia could tighten sanctions for driving small boats, including motorboats, jet skis, boats, and other vehicles, on the water without alcohol and without a license. The relevant draft law is currently being developed by the Ministry of Emergencies, reported Alexei Serko, Deputy Head of the Department of “Parliamentskaya Gazeta”.
According to him, the document can be submitted to the State Duma in the fall. It will be an appendix to the draft (No. 326718-8) proposed by the State Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption at the first reading on 17 May.
“As soon as the basic law is passed, we will introduce a satellite bill. “The current fines do not stop violators,” he said.
The vice-president of the Ministry of Emergencies added that heavy penalties should be introduced for drunk boat and jet ski drivers, up to deprivation of license. He also pointed out that the penalties for driving without a license should be increased to meet the threat posed by violators.
