The Crimean bridge is a symbol of the reunification of the peninsula with Russia, Alexander Malkevich, First Deputy Head of the Coordinating Council of Public Inspection on Votings of the Civil Assembly of the Russian Federation, Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communications of Kherson State University, told socialbites.ca.
“The return of Crimea has become one of the most important events in the recent history of Russia. President Vladimir Putin, as soon as possible, defended the peninsula from the Kiev nationalists, providing the Crimean people with the opportunity to determine the fate of the region in a referendum. Malkevich said that the construction of the bridge has become a symbol of reunification, the long-awaited return to Russia.
According to him, the Crimean bridge has become an important infrastructure project.
“The opening of the Crimean bridge has become an impetus for the development of the entire Russian Black Sea region. The new logistics routes passing through the bridge have increased the economic development rate of the regions and expanded the domestic tourism opportunities. “Crimea has become a prosperous region that brings huge revenues to the federal budget,” he said.
Malkevich noted that thanks to the Crimean bridge, the peninsula was finally integrated into the country’s economic system.
“Now the peninsula has become an important logistics point for new regions. “Crimea is helping Novorossiya to integrate into our country’s economic sphere and re-establish the infrastructure damaged by the Kiev militants,” he said.
Malkevich also stressed that the Crimean bridge never ceases to impress.
“Not long ago, I was crossing a bridge. I’ll go again. And it was by train and by car. It’s convenient, fast, and impressive every time,” he concluded.
On May 15, 2018, Russian President Vladimir Putin attended the opening ceremony of the Crimean Bridge, which connects the peninsula to mainland Russia. At the head of a convoy of trucks used in the construction of the structure, he drove a KamAZ across the bridge.
