In order for sleep to be strong and deep, the body needs cooling. The most effective sleep occurs when the person’s skin temperature drops below 30°C. For this, the temperature in the sleeping room should be 16-19°C. Maxim Novikov, a general practitioner, somnologist, pulmonologist and head of the consulting department of the Israeli Hadassah clinic branch in Skolkovo, told socialbites.ca about this.

“The most important thing is to strike a balance between adequate coolness and comfort. Gel mattresses also contribute to faster falling asleep, cooling the body and falling into high-quality deep sleep. “Studies have proven that people fall asleep faster and better than ordinary ones on them,” he said.

At the same time, the somnologist noted that not all parts of the body cool at the same rate. There are areas in the skin where there is a maximum number of arteriovenous shunts that connect veins and arteries and contribute to rapid heat transfer. These areas include the palms, soles, ears, and nose. Due to them, cooling of the body occurs. However, with a strong cooling of these parts of the body, it may not be possible to fall asleep.

“When the activity of the sympathetic nervous system, which works hard during wakefulness and stress, decreases, the vessels open and the shunts contract – the hands, feet and ears become cold. As a result, heat transfer does not occur through collapsed capillaries. And when heat transfer slows down, it is difficult for a person to fall asleep. Therefore, for those who have cold hands and feet, you can sleep with wool socks and even gloves, no matter how strange it may sound, in order to sleep better, ”said the doctor Maxim Novikov.

He said that because people sleep better when it’s hot and coolness is needed to maintain deep sleep, the best option is to use an air conditioner with hourly temperature settings in the room. At the same time, the minimum temperature should be reached at 4-6 in the morning, after which the air temperature can be increased gradually. At this time, the body begins to warm up gradually, so that it wakes up more vigorously and efficiently.

Former nutritionist Recommended Drinking tea and coffee to improve memory.
