“Immortal Regiment” procession held in Berlin, reports TASS.
According to the agency, at least 1,000 people attended the event. Protesters gathered at the Brandenburg Gate. The procession went up to the monument in the Tiergarten with songs of the war years.
It was stated that those who participated in the action carried Victory Banners, USSR flags and Russian tricolor flags. Since it was previously forbidden to display Russian and Soviet flags at the burial site in Germany, the police stopped the procession and asked them to remove them. In addition, law enforcement officials did not allow a minute of silence to be held at the monument itself in memory of those who died in the Great Patriotic War. Instead, the police wanted to do it nearby, on June 17th Street.
