Moscow resident Ksenia, who came to Saratov for a vacation, witnessed the fall of a tree in the City Park. As a result of the incident, two people died – a woman and a child. Ksenia told socialbites.ca that the tree fell on the site of the children’s carousel.
“They and their friends walked under a huge, rickety tree for fear that it would fall. About 3 minutes later, another fell not far from us. We heard a scream, there was a violent explosion. All the men in the park ran towards the children’s carousel and the tent where the tree fell. The women ran away from there, they cried a lot, they screamed. “It was a terrible sight, even the men were crying,” he said.
Ksenia added that the weather in the city was windy, but “not windy enough to knock down trees.” She also noted that she left the park in a hurry after the incident, so she was unable to assess the situation of the other victims.
“I can’t say anything about the victims, but the security service and resuscitation came very quickly. A few minutes later we heard flashing lights, after 5-7 minutes they were already in the park. We left this park and the scene in a hurry,” he said.
According to media reports, as a result of a tree falling in Saratov City Park dead An 80-year-old woman and a 9-year-old boy. Two more children and a woman were hospitalized.
