Psychologists at the University of Guelph in Canada have found that a partner’s decision to have sex affects relationship satisfaction and the likelihood of reaching orgasm. The results of the work of scientists have been published. magazine Journal of Gender Studies.
The study’s authors identified two main reasons for having sex: to fulfill marital obligations and to please the partner. Scientists decided to find out how these motives affect satisfaction with sex and relationships. To do this, they collected a sample of about 600 people – all of whom filled out a demographic questionnaire and also answered questions about satisfaction with relationships and sex, as well as reasons for indulging.
12% of women and only 2% of men had compulsorily sex, with 10% of women and 9% of men reporting wanting to please their partner. Women who reported having sex out of compulsion had significantly lower satisfaction with relationships and sex. In contrast, having sex to please your partner was associated with higher sexual satisfaction.
