The All-Russian Passenger Association has asked the Ministry of Transport to lift the restriction that prohibits the transport of liquids in containers larger than 100 ml on board. It has been reported “Kommersant”.

The agency noted that it has regularly received “fair objections” from travelers regarding the revision of these rules and has called for consideration of their mitigation or removal.

Sending a letter to the department was approved by the head of the association, Ilya Zotov. He noted that the introduction of changes should be discussed in detail with the expert industry community. According to him, such changes are currently being worked out at UK airports, but revision of the rules is reluctantly discussed.

In the letter of the organization, it is stated that the relevant arrangements were made after the incident that took place at London Airport on 10 August 2006 and it was informed that terrorists were being searched for with “liquid bombs”. It is emphasized that since then such incidents have not occurred, and inspection activities have been significantly modernized, including the use of more modern equipment at airports.

In 2019, the Russian company Ratek developed a security scanner that can recognize the contents of containers that will allow liquids to be transported on aircraft in the future. For those living in Russia, it is stated that this means rejecting the ban on the transport of liquids and other substances on planes, trains and other crowded places, as the technology will greatly simplify control over the transport of explosives.
