According to the press service, more than 3,000 people from 38 states are participating in the exercises this year.
During the exercise, participants will practice protecting government IT systems and critical infrastructure from a potential major cyberattack, CCDCOE director Martha Noorma said.
He explained that the scenario of the exercise implied that the imaginary country faces a worsening security situation, with serious cyberattacks causing massive disruptions to power grids, water treatment systems, public safety and other critical infrastructure.
“Teams will demonstrate how well they can keep IT systems up and running in real-world situations and under severe time constraints,” Noorma concluded.
