Travel planning service OneTwoTrip reveals where its customers are vacationing in the first quarter of 2023. To do this, the experts analyzed data on hotel reservations from January to March. “socialbites.ca” got acquainted with the results of the study.

In the first three months of this year, tourists were 2.3 times more likely to book hotels within the country than in 2022. Nearly all travelers, ie 99.0%, rested for up to a week on average, and only 1% of bookings fell over a longer period.

Most often in the first quarter, the Russians remained in Moscow: the share of the capital accounted for 28.8% of all orders in the country. In second place is St. which is visited by 15.0% of tourists. Petersburg, followed by Sochi, where 10.0% of hotel reservations are made. Many travelers also vacationed in Kazan (3.0%) and Yekaterinburg (2.2%).

Also on the list of popular destinations are Kaliningrad (2.1%), Krasnodar (1.9%), Novosibirsk (1.6%), Nizhny Novgorod (1.5%) and Rostov-on-Don (1.4%).

The number of international hotel reservations increased by 5.7 times compared to the previous year. The majority or 92.9% of Russians stayed in hotels for up to seven days, the remaining 7.1% rested for more than a week.

Istanbul was the most popular city, accounting for 11.4% of hotel reservations in the first quarter of 2023. This was followed by Dubai with a share of 7.2% and Phuket, where passengers from Russia rested with a share of 4.4%. Bangkok, another Thai city, ranks fourth (Thai capital accounts for 4.0% of hotel bookings) and Minsk closes the top five (3.9%).

Also, Russians frequently stayed in hotels in Yerevan (3.5%), Antalya (2.5%), Pattaya (1.9%), Almaty (1.6%) and Paris (1.5%).
