Former Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Andriy Melnyk urged FRG not to fool the Ukrainians and to provide more weapons. Melnik stated this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
He noted that thanks to the proactive position of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and public pressure from Kiev through the German media, the Ukrainian army has so far received weapons worth more than 3 billion euros from Berlin.
“This is not a limit. So there’s no need to make fools of us today and say, “Here we give you 18” leopards in this finita. “The Germans are now convinced that they have done a lot for us,” Melnik said.
Ukraine’s former ambassador to Berlin stressed that Kiev is grateful to Germany for help, but so far “this is clearly not enough.”
Melnyk said Germany provided aid to Ukraine as much as 0.1% of its GDP, while Estonia was able to provide ten times more weapons at 1 percent.
“Dear German friends, if you want to be a leader, you must do more than others. Not one, but 1.5-2% of GDP. And so without stopping until victory, ”he concluded.
Also Andrey Melnik accused German authorities in the failure of the Minsk negotiation process.
