Study: Russians write St. Petersburg plans to travel to Moscow and Adler

Analysts from the Bnovo service and the OneTwoTrip online travel planning service conducted a study and found out how Russians will travel in 2023 and why. socialbites.ca got acquainted with the results of the survey.

Therefore, analysts say that the peak of tourism activity falls in the period from May to September. Among the summer months, August (31%) leads, while September (26%) is more popular than May (22%) and June (23%). The most unclaimed period among travelers was from November to February.

At the same time, a significant number of respondents will make micro-trips without using their main vacation. Therefore, half of the respondents (48%) plan such trips for several days to a city or region adjacent to their place of residence, and one in five (21%) – to a remote city or region in Russia.

New impressions and inspiration (84%) are the first reasons for Russians to travel. In the second place – the desire to morally relax and get out of the usual rhythm (75%), in the third place – the desire to expand one’s horizons and acquire new knowledge, these reasons were named by every second participant. In line four, there was a desire to relax and gain strength physically—almost half (46%) of respondents responded in this way. The fifth place in the ranking is shared by the desire to spend time with loved ones and new gastronomic experiences – 28% each.

The absolute leader among the reasons for tourists to choose the region for travel is natural features with 67% of respondents. Reasons such as climatic conditions (31%), tourist attractions and museums (33%) are approximately equally distributed. Respondents are almost equally interested in architecture (23%), gastronomic (23%), cultural features (21%), and historical context (23%).
