EU authorities are close to starting discussions on sending a peacekeeping unit to Ukraine. thinks Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

“At the talks of European leaders, we came close to the fact that the question of whether EU member states could send peacekeeping troops to Ukraine in any form, or whether it would be better not to send them, was legitimized and accepted. We are close to this border that could not be crossed before,

said in an interview with radio Kossuth.

The politician recalled that a year ago there were disagreements in the EU about sending deadly weapons to Ukraine.

“Western countries hesitated. Now this is not a question. “The question now is just tanks, how many planes, shells containing uranium or troops,” Orban said.

He also stated that he considers the start of a new world war to be a real danger. According to him, this is “not a literary exaggeration”. Nor do more European leaders who support peace see it.

On March 11, Orban said that individual EU or NATO countries could send their armies to Ukraine. According to him, European countries were stricken with “war fever”. Then Orban stressed that the world “has never been closer to the escalation of a local war into a world war”.

EU officials have repeatedly stressed that the EU does not intend to directly participate in the conflict in Ukraine. “This is not happening and will not happen,” said Josep Borrell, head of European diplomacy. The same was expressed by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who noted that the alliance is not seeking war with Russia.

“Coffin Row”

The possibility of sending Western peacekeepers to Ukraine commented Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, on his Telegram channel. According to him, the purpose of sending peacekeepers would be to establish “a peace on the line of contact that will benefit them from a position of strength”.

“NATO members are not angry creatures freed from their ignorance and arrogance. They treat everyone else like complete idiots. And they offer their “peacekeeping” services with a cynical grin. Their true intentions are clear – to establish a positive peace on the line of contact from a position of strength. Bring your “peacekeeping” troops to Ukraine with machine guns and tanks, in blue helmets with yellow stars,” Medvedev wrote.

He also recalled the experience of the United States and its allies in the operations of the “peacekeeping” contingent in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan and African countries.

“So-called NATO peacekeepers will go to war on the side of our enemies. Unleash a terrifying third world war in words. Such “peacekeepers” are our direct enemies. Wolves in sheep’s clothing,” he added.

Medvedev noted that Western peacekeepers on the territory of Ukraine will become legitimate targets for the Russian army – “they are not” peacekeepers “, but fighters.

“It remains only to clarify whether Europe’s ‘peacekeepers’ are ready for a long coffin tail?”

he finished.

Russian President’s Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov also appreciated Orban’s statement.

“This statement is very important. If we are already talking about some kind of negotiation, this is a potentially extremely dangerous discussion,” he said.

Peskov noted that in world practice such forces are used, as a rule, with the consent of both parties to the conflict.

The situation was also interpreted by Vladimir Dzhabarov, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council International Relations Committee, during his meeting with the Parliamentary Newspaper. According to him, Moscow would not approve of sending Western peacekeepers to Ukraine.

“To bring the peacekeepers, you need the consent of both warring parties, that is, not only Ukraine, but also Russia. “I don’t think Russia can take such a decision,” he said.

Moreover, according to him, peacekeepers have not yet completed their duties with a significant positive result anywhere in the world. Overall, he added, the idea is doomed to fail.
