Advanced lithographs for printing microcircuits were never sold to Russia, – said in a conversation with socialbites.ca, the main developer of a groundbreaking domestic lithograph created with the participation of scientific cooperation of the National Center for Physics and Mathematics (NTsFM). RAS Nikolai Chkhalo of the multilayer X-ray optics division (IPM) of the Institute for Microstructure Physics.

“Even without sanctions, we couldn’t buy advanced lithography. As this process has always been under the control of the American government, they were never sold to us. Not only did they sell the lithographs themselves, they didn’t even sell the materials needed for chip manufacturing,” explained the expert.

That is why, according to Nikolai Chkhalo, the establishment of domestic lithography production is very important.

“It was clear to us before. We talked about this all the time in the “zero” years. But the answer was one: “We will buy everything.” Now there are high hopes for the Chinese. True, they themselves do not have an established production of modern lithography. So the situation is critical,” said Chkhalo.
