A senior Ukrainian official said in an interview: ABC Newsthat the new generation Su-35 warplanes gave Russia “growing dominance” in the skies during the conflict in Ukraine.
According to an unnamed official, the Su-35 aircraft are equipped with highly effective long-range radars and missiles, and Russian forces are using them to attack Ukrainian aircraft in air and ground support operations.
As the ABC News source stated, Ukraine has no power to counter this threat from the Russian Federation. Russia’s air superiority is “a real risk,” he said, and additional U.S. and allied air defense systems are now “Priority #1” for Ukraine.
Russian dominance in the skies is Kiev’s main concern, as two other Ukrainian officials quoted by ABC News confirm. According to one of them, Russia has “12 times more planes” than Ukraine.
“This is the problem. We keep telling the Americans that there is no solution but to finally give us fighter jets,” he said.
