Yevhen Dykyi, former commander of the “Aydar” division of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, said that Bakhmut (Russian name Artemovsk) is surrounded by 4/5 and the city of Avdiivka is in a semicircle. He said this in an interview with NV radio.
“They (Armed Forces of the Russian Federation) are still trying to get the Bakhmut-2 out of Avdiivka. So there, confident that it was hopeless, they also switched from frontal attack tactics to defending the city from different directions. And if Bakhmut is currently 4/5 in the ring, then Avdiivka is still halfway in the ring.”
He also noted that in recent days the Russian Armed Forces has made significant progress around Avdiivka and is “trying to cut roads”.
He also added that Russian troops are unlikely to transfer forces from Bakhmut to Avdiivka, as Bakhmut is much closer to the siege.
On March 27, retired Lieutenant Colonel Andrei Marochko of the People’s Militia of the Luhansk People’s Republic announced that the commanders of the Ukrainian army throw Near Artemovsk (Ukrainian name – Bakhmut) elite and units trained for use as traditional infantry in Western countries.
Previously, Deputy Governor of the Donetsk People’s Republic Yan Gagin, Ukraine’s deferred a counterattack due to the lack of weapons and the situation, for example, in hotspots in Artemovsk, Avdeevka and Vugledar.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a special military operation in Ukraine in response to a request for assistance from the heads of the LPR and DPR.
The decision to run the operation became the justification for new sanctions against Russia by the United States and its allies.
