in-person and live broadcast event featuring the invaluable opening Lina Maria Gaviria Orjuela, director of the Levante Traffic Management Center of the Ministry of the Interior; related to Virgil Gilart Iglesias, director of the Higher Polytechnic School of the University of Alicante; related to Salvador Ivorra Chorro, Vice-Chancellor for Infrastructures at the University of Alicante; and of course, dean and organizer of CITOP Alicante, Eduardo Francisco Vilchez Lopez.

With a large public participation, the second edition of these conferences focused on: Use of new technologies in the management of basic urban services and always in terms of civil engineering. All this, as Alba points out, is “to adapt to the new mobility needs associated with urban areas by producing all kinds of models: traffic, emissions, pollution, noise… And know all the applications that will take place right now, especially in Low Emission Zones in the cities around us » .

And that’s exactly what these conferences focus on. First, with a complete international analysis of the Low Emission Zones in Alicante, Benidorm, Elche and London. On the other hand, with special management of areas such as the water cycleAdaptation to city rooms, parking lots, traffic and current logistics needs.

Finally, the sessions ended with the study of the students. Artificial intelligence application in the cityA concept defined as Urban Intelligence that gives its name to this second edition of the Civil Engineering Conference of the College of Public Works Technical Engineers Alicante Region.

Through presentations and table Discussion around AICivil Engineering assistants, professionals and students from Alicante and the rest of Spain, knows the technological applications in all areas of the practice of the profession and in a confined environment such as a city. Opening knowledge beyond infrastructures to additional contexts has allowed the radius to be extended to lesser-known areas of civil engineering, but therefore no less important.

While the importance of these conferences held in Alicante is determined by the analysis of local as well as international practical cases such as London and New York, the conclusions reached by Lina María Gaviria Orjuela, who emphasized the importance of these sessions, come to the fore. “they add value to the entire meeting of colleagues operating in this field”, to share issues that are carried out locally in different municipal buildings and as the main element as a result of common learning”. The cases analyzed here show that we are ready to receive the growing urban population in an increasingly limited area and wherever. new traffic restrictions coexist with a mobility never seen before.

All this, as Vílchez notes, “is a source of pride for civil engineering professionals in Alicante, with examples seen in the sessions. Proud of achievements, surpassed them perfectly».
