Masymas and Mercalicante support an agreement to train students in the agri-food sector

Masymas and Mercalicante signed a cooperation agreement so that students studying in courses promoted by the food cluster can do internships at the chain’s supermarkets. The agreement will allow students to apply in a practical way the knowledge gained in courses in the specialties of butchery, fishermen, grocers, delicatessen and bakery.. The agreement was signed at Masymas headquarters in Pedreguer.

Dolores Mejía, general manager of Mercalicante, and José Juan Fornés, general manager of Masymas, attended the signing ceremony. Mercalicante develops training courses for specializing in the agri-food sector in the Fresh Food Grade120 square meters of space, equipped with different areas for cutting and processing of food products, as well as a changing room area and an audio-visual system for training sessions.

This initiative aims to increase the employability of students attending Mercalicante training courses. and its possible subsequent contract at the Masymas supermarket chain. Once the courses are over, Mercalicante will transfer the curriculum of the participants who have completed the training so that Masymas can evaluate their profile in the internal selection and contracting processes run by the supermarket chain.

Mercalicante’s managing director thanked Masymas for his cooperation in this initiative, which, according to Mejía, “will enable, in a very practical way, to strengthen the training and specialization of future workers in the food industry.” Thus, it contributes to increase the competitiveness of the sector.”. “We impart theoretical and practical knowledge in our courses, but it is very important that students have the opportunity to apply this knowledge in companies,” Mejía said.
