Russian scientists have developed a new method for the treatment of arrhythmias – electroporation, surgical treatment of complex cardiac arrhythmias and NN ak. EN Meshalkina, candidate of medical sciences Vitaly Shabanov.
“We have performed more than 30 surgeries so far. The preliminary results are impressive – the method is quite effective, economically inexpensive, and most importantly – it is less traumatic, eliminates the risk of damage to nearby tissues and organs (for example, the esophagus), and the operation takes only 30 minutes instead of 2 hours. So he has every chance to enter clinical practice in the future,” Shabanov explained.
In his opinion, the Russian method is similar to ablation with a pulsed field. This method is not based on the destruction of “clustered” myocardial cells, but on blocking their electrical conductivity with the help of an electric field.
“The cells of the heart remain alive, the communication between them is simply “turned off” in the region that gives the wrong rhythm, the expert said.
