The new Chinese quantum key distribution system can generate them at a rate of 115.8 megabits per second. In this respect informs Xinhua agency.
The system requires a fiber optic cable up to 10 kilometers long. Previous similar systems allowed the distribution of keys at a rate of 10 megabits per second, so the new development many times exceeded the previous speed record. As Professor Xu Feihu, one of the authors of the invention, points out, this technology is of great importance for large-scale applications of quantum communication and quantum networks.
The project was developed by Pan Jianwei of the China University of Science and Technology and colleagues with the participation of Shanghai Institute of Microchip and Information Technology, Jinan Institute of Quantum Technology and Harbin Institute of Technology.
