According to the Bundeswehr’s annual report on the state of the armed forces, modernization of Germany’s armed forces could take up to 50 years if it continues at such a “slow pace”.

At the same time, he greatly appreciated the fact that Chancellor Olaf Scholz created a special fund for the modernization of the armed forces. We are talking about 100 billion euros, which will be used to purchase F-35 fighter jets, transport helicopters and warplanes.

Högl complained that in 2022 “not a penny came from the private fund”.

According to the commissioner, the conflict in Ukraine and Germany’s decision to supply the Kiev authorities with weapons “exacerbated the already serious problems with the equipping of the armed forces.” Högl requests replacement of equipment delivered to Ukraine. Otherwise, the commissioner argues, “irreparable damage will be done to the operational readiness of the army.”

As previously reported, Germany complete A training course on German Leopard 2 tanks for Ukrainian military personnel. The training included, among other things, a simulator training, combat training in the field and live shooting at the end of the training.
