According to Rospotrebnadzor, contrary to the opinion of WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, it is still too early to talk about the end of the COVID-19 epidemic in 2023. Antonina Ploskireva, deputy director of clinical studies of the Rospotrebnadzor Central Research Institute of Epidemiology, told socialbites.ca about this.

“Today it is too early to say definitively that the coronavirus pandemic is over. However, we are now seeing positive trends towards a reduction in the number of severe cases of the disease – in most patients the infection progresses to an acute respiratory infection. “This gives us hope that in the near future infection by the SARS-CoV-2 virus will become a seasonal disease.”

Ploskireva added that in general such decisions are made on the basis of epidemiological, clinical and scientific data, as well as the results of the risk assessment for human health and the risk of international spread of the disease.

Former WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus expression Confidence that the COVID-19 pandemic will end in 2023. He credits him with Thomas Francis Jr. for his contributions to healthcare. He said when he was presented with his medal.
