Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Russia, press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov, proposed awarding an award for international scientific cooperation in the country. He stated this at a meeting of the organizing committee of the award “For loyalty to science.” TASS.
“Now we have lost a lot of areas where we collaborated with our colleagues (in the West), where we got technology, knowledge, experience from there, we lost this opportunity. But that doesn’t mean we should strive for scientific autarky,” he said.
According to him, such autarky would lead the Russian Federation to “backwardness and the Middle Ages”.
As Peskov points out, “the world is not limited to the areas that the Russian Federation has lost”, it is much more diverse. He also said that one of the awards related to international cooperation should be awarded next year.” The president’s press secretary explained that we’re talking about “alternatively popping up” aspects today.
There are many of these areas and it is very important for us.”
Peskov also pointed out that the role of science is increasing in Russia “in the current conditions, in the conditions of our conflict environment”.
“We’re all talking about the domination of our economy, and of course we can’t do without science here,” he continued.
Peskov stressed the importance of his sovereignty.
The head of state’s deputy head of administration also proposed introducing an “implementation-related bonus” in 2024.
“Science should still make money – it is clear that basic science as an art free from monetary problems – but in general science should bring tangible worldly benefits to our economy, production, technologies. Peskov said we need to spread more examples of successful practice.
Former Russian President Vladimir Putin declarationthat the country should organize systematic studies for the development of science throughout the region and develop uniform approaches to training personnel in this field.
