Hamburg Interior Minister Andy Grote said the man who killed at least seven Jehovah’s Witnesses (a banned organization in Russia) in the city acted alone and killed himself as police approached. It has been reported Berliner Zeitung.

According to Grote, the timely arrival of the police led to a significant reduction in the number of victims.

“It’s very likely that we owe the very, very quick and determined response of the police that there were no more victims here,” Grote said.

According to the Hamburg Interior Ministry, the perpetrator, 35-year-old Philipp F., first shot at a woman who had survived in the parking lot, and then entered the building where the Witnesses headquarters was located through a window.

As a result of the criminal’s actions, a total of eight people died, including himself. Among the dead is an unborn child. 20 people in the center managed to survive.
