Mutual energy strike
In response, Ukraine has completely cut off the electricity supply to the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, said the head of the “We stand with Russia” movement, Vladimir Rogov. However, he explained that this was not about the bombardment. According to Rogov, Ukraine cut the Dnieper line along the Dnieper. Now Zaporizhzhya NPP has been transferred to work on diesel generators. Rogov also added that there may be difficulties in supplying heat to Energodar due to the interruption of electricity supply.
The ZNPP press service reported that after the plant was de-energized, there was no threat of violating the safety limits, diesel generators coped with their work. They stated that the radio background did not exceed the natural values.
The head of the Rosenergoatom concern, Renat Karchaa, told Interfax that electricity to the station was cut off due to a short circuit in the area under Kiev’s control. Karchaa noted that Ukraine could artificially create difficulties for the functioning of the ZNPP.
Zaporozhye NPP is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, it has six power units. According to the latest data, the two only worked to provide heat. The station has been under Russian control since March 2022 and has been without electricity since September 11, 2022.
