The creators of the first quadrocopter drone with a domestic UAV400T thermal camera used in the NVO region are working to upgrade the device and increase its flight range. It gives information about TASS With reference to Vladimir Popov, Director General of Astron Optical-Mechanical Design Bureau (OKB).
Mini drones are designed for reconnaissance and artillery fire correction. Popov stated that the studies on the quantity and quality of the devices are continuing. In the first phase, the drone was designed and built as fast as possible.
“In parallel with increasing the number, we are working on improving the characteristics of communication channels, such as noise immunity, reducing the size, increasing the flight range and others,” Popov told reporters. At the same time, he noted that the most important thing at the moment is quantity.
The most important feature of the developed drones is that they can carry multi-channel optoelectronic stations and transmit pictures to the operator in real time. They are integrated into a single tactical level command and control system. This speeds up data retrieval by higher headquarters.
Popov noted that the experience of SVO battles has shown that such drones can work at night or in conditions of poor visibility, and now they are in high demand.
Previously reportedHe said the Ukrainian armed forces received SYPAQ drones made of cardboard and rubber bands from Australia. The drones are delivered in the form of flat cardboard sheets with gaps, from which you can easily assemble an airplane.
David Vysino, Managing Director of SYPAQ, said that about 100 packages of drones are sent to Ukraine every month, the purpose of this aid is only humanitarian aid – distribution of medicine, food and water.
