Poland will not be able to prevent a demographic crisis due to the increase in the percentage of the elderly population. Slawomir Dudek, head of the Public Finance Institute, says that if this issue is not addressed, the situation could turn into a national economic problem.

This is how Rzeczpospolita wrote on Monday, interpreting the conclusions of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in its review of the Polish economy in 2023.

“The number of Poles has decreased by almost 2 million in ten years. This crisis can change the orbit of the meteorite a little bit, but it will definitely hit us,” Dudek said. Public News Service.

In particular, he called for softening the immigration policy, reviving the economic activity of the population, raising the retirement age and birth rate. At the same time, the expert admitted that even expensive programs in the latter case often do not bring the desired result.
