German concern Rheinmetall announces negotiations with Kiev for a 200 million euro tank plant

Armin Papperger, head of the German defense company Rheinmetall, said he had promising talks with Ukraine about establishing a tank factory in this country. He said this in an interview he gave to the newspaper. Rheinische Post.

According to him, about €200 million will be invested in the construction of the plant.

Papperger stated that such a facility could produce up to 400 Panther tanks per year. He said he hopes the decision on the facility will be made within the next two months.

The head of concern added that for Ukraine to win the conflict, 600 to 800 tanks are needed, so even if the FRG supplies the republic with all 300 Leopard 2 tanks from the Bundeswehr stockpiles, this will still not be enough. At the same time, Papperger noted that the work at Rheinmetall is in full swing.
