Careful hygiene, a well-chosen toothbrush and toothpaste, and some folk remedies will help prevent bleeding gums. The founder of the Smilestudio clinic and dentist Louise Avtandilyan told socialbites.ca about this.

Avtandilyan recommended, first of all, adherence to the rules of oral hygiene, since in most cases bleeding of the gums is caused by the accumulation of plaque at the base of the tooth and the active reproduction of bacteria.

“It is important to brush your teeth regularly and of good quality, in the morning and in the evening, with the help of sweeping movements directed from the edge of the gum to the edge of the tooth. Use dental floss or toothpicks outside of the house, but do so very carefully so as not to damage soft tissues. Visit a hygienist twice a year and go through a professional oral hygiene session,” she said.

Avtandilyan says you need to use the right toothbrush to prevent bleeding gums.

The dentist also recommended abandoning aggressive whitening toothpastes and pastes with a high abrasive index in favor of therapeutic and prophylactic products.

Folk remedies can also be useful, according to Avtandilyan. “Include rinsing with decoctions or infusions of herbs in your daily hygiene routine. For these purposes, chamomile, string, calendula, oak bark, sage, St. John’s wort, licorice root and pine needles are perfect.”
