A woman with terminal cancer was denied a refund on behalf of the airline and wished a “speedy recovery”. It has been reported Mirror.
Kathy Warner, 31, a Bristol resident, wanted to spend a holiday in Scotland with her husband and daughter, but “when they booked a return flight, covid hit and Scotland closed.”
“We immediately got a refund for the booked trailer. I went to the easyJet website, filled out a refund form and they sent me a coupon,” the woman explained.
He was initially told that the voucher given to him instead of the ticket is non-refundable. The coupon was then extended until July 2021 and then another six months.
Warner explained that he will not be able to fly because he is undergoing chemotherapy again, which means that his immune system will be damaged. But airline officials only wished the woman a “speedy recovery” and said the refund would “not be fair to other passengers”.
In January of this year, the victim’s brother tried to use the coupon, but easyJet said the coupon had expired.
EasyJet is known to have apologized to Bristol from the terminally ill mother and refunded her money after the initial refusal. Now the company is conducting an internal investigation and learns why the woman was not offered a full refund despite her circumstances.
“It was completely humiliating and insensitive … In the remaining time I want to leave memories, not fight easyJet,” Warner said of his experience.
