Moldovan residents speak out in favor of the country’s neutrality in the conflict in Ukraine

Most Moldovan citizens believe that the country’s authorities should adhere to the neutrality specified in the Constitution in relation to the Ukraine conflict. Relevant data based on the results of the “Barometer of Public Opinion” survey was given by the Moldovan Institute for Marketing and Sociological Studies, reports TASS.

According to the survey, 73% of the respondents believe that maintaining the neutrality stipulated in the Constitution is the best solution for Moldova. While 60% of the respondents expressed concern that the conflict in Ukraine may affect Moldovan territory, 29% believe that it will not. The survey showed that only 20% of Moldovan citizens believed that their country should join NATO or another military alliance because of the conflict in Ukraine.

The study included 1100 participants in 89 regions of Moldova.

Prior to that, former Moldovan President Igor Dodon aforementioned about the fact that the officials of the republic are increasingly talking about a possible entry into NATO. He noted on his Telegram channel that such steps are unlikely to find support among Moldovans.
