WhatsApp has a number of hidden features suitable for communication and correspondence with loved ones. These include highlighting chunks of text, disappearing messages, customizing backgrounds, voice alerts, and much more. Sergei Zhitinets, General Manager of Motive Agency&Production, talked about this in an interview with socialbites.ca.

“Whatsapp has text formatting that few people know about. This feature allows you to highlight sections of text using simple characters. For example, to make text bold, simply put an asterisk before and after the part that needs to be highlighted. To set the formatting to italic, do the same as the underscore sign. You need to do it and you can create strikethrough text using the tilde character. You can also press and hold the text entered in the field and select the desired formatting, as in Telegram, ”said Zhytinets.

At the same time, another useful feature is the ability to disable the automatic loading of media files received in the messenger into the device’s memory. Since photos and videos often clog up the gadget’s memory, go to “Settings”, select the “Chats” section and turn off “Media Visibility”.

“You can also set the sending of lost messages for individual contacts – they are automatically deleted a day, a week or 3 months after they are sent. Expert to do this, open “Settings” – “Privacy” – “Disappearing messages” and “Enable timer in chats” It says “Specify the chat you want in the section”.

According to the expert, the messenger also provides the opportunity to send your current location to the addressee. This can be especially convenient if one of the interlocutors cannot find another person in a big city or even in a forest, provided that mobile communication is available in this area.

“You can subscribe to beta testing to be the first to learn and test Messenger’s new features. WhatsApp is currently testing the automatic conversion of audio messages to text for those who do not like to listen to audio. Zhytinets said that the conversion of voice messages to text messages in different languages is already available in the beta version.

For example, using the beta version of WhatsApp, you can simultaneously use one account on your smartphone and Android tablet – this option is not yet provided in stable builds.

Formerly socialbites.ca saidWhatsApp is trying to implement a feature to send personalized news.
