7 people lost their lives in the fire at the MKM hotel in the east of Moscow. This was reported by RIA Novosti citing a source in the emergency services.

The fire broke out in the hotel building on Mezhdunarodnaya Street, near the Rimskaya metro station, and started the previous day on February 21 at 21:20 Moscow time. The fire broke out on the fifth floor of a 16-story building.

According to the testimony of another woman who fled the building, the fire was severe.
“I opened the front door, there is a fire. I immediately closed it and ran to the window,” he said. Firefighters helped the family down the ladder from the window.
The Moscow Main Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Provision of services that do not meet security requirements”. The prosecution is investigating the fire.
