The Pentagon said the U.S. military is advised to avoid eating poppy seeds in any form, including baked goods, to avoid positive urine drug tests. It has been reported DEA News.
The ministry stressed that, according to the latest information, some poppy seeds may contain much higher amounts of codeine than previously thought.
“Consumption of poppy seed products can lead to positive urine tests for codeine,” the agency said in a statement.
The U.S. Department of Defense has pledged to amend the recommendations as new scientific evidence emerges.
Former Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree lifting the ban on the cultivation of hemp and poppy for industrial, medical and veterinary purposes. Plant seeds for planting will be entered in the state register.
