David Swatman, 43, won £100,000 from the lottery in 2018. As a devoted Liverpool fan, he promised to spend all the money to go to football matches. All this time, the Briton continued to work at a shoe store, where he repeatedly stole new sneakers he was selling online.
When the company realized that the boxes were running out, it started researching. David was later arrested by the police and taken for questioning, where he confessed to the thefts. According to the investigation, Swatman managed to steal 22 pairs of shoes.
The man was sentenced by the court to 20 months in prison on probation. Also, the court decided that he should attend rehabilitation courses and gave 150 hours of community service.
Previously, the winner of the lottery ignored the messages from the organizers, attributing them to scammers.
