The regional department of the Chuvash Republic of the RF IC opened a criminal case regarding the fact that there was an explosion at the Urengoy-Pomary-Uzhgorod gas pipeline. It has been reported department press office.
“A criminal case was brought on the ground that it was a crime under Part 3 of Art. 217 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation,” he said.
According to investigators, the explosion occurred around 13:44 local time during repair work in an area near the village of Yambakhtino in the Vurnarsky district. The cause of the incident is said to be a gas leak and fire.
The head of the regional department of the RF IC, Alexander Poltinin, headed the investigation and operations group, which went to the scene to “conduct urgent investigative actions.”
