Psychologists from the University of Arizona found that women prefer activities that focus more on working with people than men. work of scientists published In Sex Roles magazine.

Men prefer to work with tools and things. In addition, women are more likely to prefer prestigious activities as well as activities related to the development of ideas.

The authors analyzed data from an online survey conducted by Time magazine to explore gender differences in occupational interests among cultures around the world. The scientists studied the responses of 75,000 respondents from 42 countries.

The difference in men’s and women’s job preferences was not the same – it was smallest among respondents from Georgia and largest among respondents from Venezuela.

“In all countries except the Philippines and Poland, women tended to be more interested in working with ideas than men. There, women prefer to work with data. In addition, women are more interested in prestige than men in all but eight countries: Canada, Chile, France, Greece, Malaysia, Pakistan, Republic of Korea and Singapore.

However, the authors note that their sample had limitations – respondents were more educated and financially secure than the average resident of their country. In the future, they hope to repeat the study with a larger sample.
