Doctors from a hospital in Delaware (USA) reported an episode of an allergic reaction to nuts in a woman after unprotected sex with a partner – traces of hazelnuts were found in her husband’s semen. A rare case has been described. Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Annuals.
A 28-year-old woman in Delaware, who was trying to have a baby with her husband, went to the hospital with complaints of burning and pain during sexual intercourse. Doctors suspected it was vaginitis, an inflammatory disease of the vaginal mucosa. But doctors began to doubt the diagnosis, as symptoms only appeared if the man ejaculated without a condom.
The woman had a nut allergy in her medical history. Later, doctors suggested that his partner quit the insanity for a while. It really helped the patient get rid of vaginitis symptoms. Doctors believe that traces of allergens in the man’s semen cause an allergic reaction.
Such cases are incredibly rare. More research is needed, but in general, scientists consider the individual risks of allergic patients to be minimal.
