20th Century Fox must pay Thailand 270,000 euros for damage to Di Caprio’s ‘The Beach’

It is a clear example of how a lonely and almost unknown beach can overnight become an anthill full of people and boats destroying its calm and natural values. That’s what happened more than 20 years ago. ‘The Beach’ movie starring the protagonist Leonardo di Caprio. Firstly In Mayan Bay on the Phi Phi Islands of Thailand, important parts of the beach were destroyed to make the film, and then everywhere was filled with tourists and boats.

The aforementioned beach, which is approximately 250 meters long, also experienced the effects of the success of the film. The projection on screens around the world has caused a massive arrival of tourists to this remote place.

Even the Thai government had to do this. extended public access to the beach to allow for the regeneration of plant and animal species.

The Bangkok Post newspaper reported that the beach is currently closed, but is expected to open in October due to tight capacity and time control regulations.

As soon as the movie was released, the case went to court and was flooded with tourists with all its harmful consequences. The Thai government then filed the case and eventually An agreement between the state and companies in which they will pay 270,000 euros to carry out ecological restoration work.
