Titanic was shot in 8K resolution. But it didn’t take long

Unique video footage from the sunken ocean liner Titanic seen online. The footage was shot in 8K by OceanGate Expeditions and posted online.

The video’s creators say the format offers “an astonishing level of detail never imagined before.” Filming took place during the Titanic expedition in 2022.

During the eight-day operation, members of the expedition team used divers, high-resolution cameras and 3D sonar to examine the wreckage of the sunken ship.

The bow, pier anchor, giant anchor chain and sturdy bronze turrets on the Titanic’s deck were captured.

“We see new details in these frames. For example, I have never seen the name of anchor manufacturer Noah Hingley & Sons Ltd. moored on the port side. “I’ve studied the wreckage for decades and made several dives and can’t remember seeing another image showing this level of detail,” he said. this.

One of the videos posted on the web shows one of the giant cauldrons driving the ship. When the Titanic disintegrated, the mechanism fell to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.

“When we compare images and footage from 2021, we see minor changes in some crash areas. Our science team will review 8k, 4k, and other images from the 2022 Titanic expedition for any changes,” said Stockton Rush, President of OceanGate Expeditions.

According to him, experts will be able to examine the wreck of the ship more meticulously with the help of the videos made.

Titanic is the most famous shipwreck in the world. It sank after hitting an iceberg in the North Atlantic on the night of April 14-15, 1912. The ship of the British company White Star Line died on its maiden voyage, carrying passengers from the British Southampton to the American New York.

The ship was the world’s largest cruise ship at the time of her death.

At least 1,500 people died as a result of the accident, some managed to escape from the wreckage and boats, there was not enough for everyone. Many passengers and crew froze or drowned in the icy ocean water, one died inside the ship, unable to get out of the compartments.

The popularity of “Titanic” skyrocketed after David Cameron’s co-starring with Leonardo DiCaprio in the blockbuster movie of the same name. The story of the sinking of the ship, which has been a symbol of the old world for more than 10 years, remains the highest-grossing film in the history of cinema.

The wreckage of the Titanic is located at a depth of about 4,000 meters, 740 km northeast of Newfoundland, Canada.

Until 1985, the exact location of the liner was unknown. Robert Ballard’s expedition found it just 73 years after the disaster.

Since then, there have been fewer people on the sunken ship than in Earth orbit. However, from the bottom, the researchers managed to unearth thousands of artifacts – mechanisms and personal items.

The bow and stern of the Titanic sank deep into the mud and were wrecked. It is impossible to bring the ship’s skeleton to the surface.

At the same time, the days of the sunken monument of the “beautiful age” are numbered – the metal hull and parts of the ship are quickly destroyed under the influence of seawater, rust, bacteria, deep-sea fish and other organisms.

In the past 37 years, the foremast of the ship has fallen and the aft deck and gym near the main staircase have collapsed. Experts believe next is the ship’s nose, captured in ultra-clear 8K video.

An 8K video of the Titanic’s sinking by OceanGate Expeditions has been released online for the first time. In the frames you can see details that were previously hidden from human eyes. Filming was done using underwater vehicles and 3D sonar. The days of the ship that sank in 1912 are numbered – the boat is rapidly deteriorating under the influence of seawater, bacteria and rust.
