Researchers from Southern Los Angeles found that more than half of black and Latin American women used cosmetics regularly containing formaldehyde or release protectors. Formaldehyde is recognized as a carcinogenic and the presence of daily care products causes scientists to cause concern. Published in İş Magazine Environmental Science and Technology Letters (Estl).
As a part of the study, the participants followed a special application cosmetic use, including shampoos, lotions and soap. Analysis of more than 1,100 products has shown that 53% of women use funds with protective funds secreting formaldehyde such as DMDM Hydrantin. These substances are added to extend the expiration date, but may distinguish formaldehyde in contact with the skin.
Researchers call on tightening the regulation and labeling of such substances. In some countries, restrictions on the use of formaldehyde in cosmetics have already been introduced, but such measures have not yet been taken in the USA.
