An international group of scientists from China, the USA, New Zealand and Germany has revealed two regions where temperature grows especially in the oceans. These “hot belts” are found in both hemisphere over the 40s parallels and already affect the global climate. The study was published scientifically broadcasting Climate Magazine (JCLI).
The most intense heating is observed among the 40-45 degrees southern latitude in the southern hemisphere, especially in the field of New Zealand, Tasmania and Atlantic waters to the east of Argentina. In the northern hemisphere, in the northern hemisphere – about 40 degrees north latitude was recorded in the waters of the United States and the east of Japan.
Dr. Ozland University. “It is rare to discover such an open spatial model in climatic data, Kevin said Kevin Tonbert.
Data analysis for 2000-2023 has shown that temperature anomalies can be monitored to a depth of 2000 meters. Scientists associate this phenomenon with the displacement of jet currents on the poles. At the same time, heating is weaker than the effect of El Nigno’s natural phenomenon among the 10 degrees north and 20 degrees south latitudes in the tropical region.
Researchers warn that acceleration of the ocean in these regions leads to serious consequences: a violation of marine ecosystems, an increase in water evaporation (increasing greenhouse effect) and rapid excessive weather events.
