Scientists from the University of Gumboldt Berlin have taken an important step in the development of the technology of people’s digital couples – now DIPHs can mimic a realistic heartbeat and subtle changes in the skin. This makes fake videos even more convincing. Research Results published In Frontiers magazine in viewing.
Dipfas are called photos or videos where a person’s sound or appearance is “fake” using a nervous network. The word comes from the term deep learning (deep education) and fake (fake) term. Such videos can visually create a reasonable picture by reproducing the appearance, facial expressions and speech of someone else.
As part of the experiment, scientists developed a detector that automatically determines the pulse frequency with video recordings. To test the algorithm, scientists used a 10-second footteum-Video, where people’s faces are visible. The accuracy of the new system was checked using electrocardiography and the pulse indicators obtained using the detector were only two to three blows per minute from real data.
Dipfas creation technology may find applications in the entertainment industry, apparent changes and for example in health care, for example, for remote control of patients using webcams. However, high realism causes concerns – dipfas can be used for manipulation, incorrect information and fraud on the Internet.
