Although changing surgery (total endoprosthesis, fuel and energy sector) changes surgery decreases significantly and improves mobility with arthrosis, not all patients provide full healing. International scientists team found that the quality of the muscles before surgery could play an important role in estimating the effectiveness of the treatment. Published in İş Magazine Orthopedic Research Journal (Jor).
As part of the study, 10 patients prepared for endoprostics were examined before surgery. Those with low muscle mass and increased fat tissue content in muscles were detected, the worst results in mobility tests after surgery has shown better than patients with good muscle quality. At the same time, Arthrosis severity was not associated with functional healing that emphasized the importance of muscle condition, not the level of arthrosis, not the level of joint degeneration.
“Our study shows that the quality of the hip muscles is an important healing factor after surgery. However, muscle mass is rarely evaluated before intervention, because this requires a MRI that is not included in standard preoperative diagnoses,” he said.
Scientists plan to continue research to understand how low muscle quality affects the long -term consequences of the operation, including the risk of falling, chronic weakness and mobility. These data may lead to revision of approaches to the preparation of preoperatives of patients in the future.
