It turns out that electronic cigarettes increase the vulnerability of cells to the coronavirus. This was manifested by more active penetration of synthetic analogues of SARS-CoV-2. This was especially true for liquids with the highest nicotine concentrations. This was because nicotine and various molecules in the liquid for evaporation increased the activity of the ACE2 and TMPRSS2 proteins, which play an important role in the penetration of the coronavirus into cells.
Scientists believe that this pattern should be considered both by the newspapers themselves and by the doctors involved.
