North-West University (USA) scientists have revealed 16 protein groups that affect the risk of processing of cell wastes and the risk of developing “weak” genetic genetic disease. Research Results published In Science magazine.
Scientists tried to understand why some people with genetic mutations were developing Parkinson’s disease, while others did not. In a new study, they used the advanced technology of CRISPR interaction to analyze all genes in the human genome.
Scientists managed to define 16 protein groups called commanders. This group plays an important role in giving proteins to lysosomes – cellular “garbage processing stations”. Violations in the studies of this special system have long been associated with the development of neurodegenerative diseases, including Parkinson’s disease.
GBA1 Gena was particularly paid attention to working – unwanted options are already known as one of the main factors in Parkinson’s disease and Levy Taurus and Dementia risk. However, it is still unclear why GBA1 mutation does not always cause a disease. A new study shows that additional mutations in the genes of the commander complex reduce the activity of an important GCE enzyme in lysosomes and thus increases the risk of disease.
The analysis of the data obtained from the two independent Kohort-British BI-BC and AMP-PD project confirmed that patients with Parkinson’s disease are more likely to see the commander’s genes and lead to loss of function.
“This shows that additional genetic changes can actually increase the risk of developing Parkinson’s disease, Doktor said Dr. Demetrius Craintz, President and Director of Faynberg Neurobiology Institute Research.
The data obtained offer new opportunities for the development of new treatment methods. According to scientists, drugs aiming to improve the proteins of the commander complex can strengthen the function of lysoza and slow down the progression of the disease.
Now researchers plan to find out if the commander complex can play a similar role in other neurodegenerative diseases.
