French archaeologists from the National Scientific Research Center (CNRS) dug the ruins of the ancient city that may be related to the father of Tutlukhamun and Ramses II. The unique drainage system, which protects the clay walls from erosion, is particularly interesting.
One of the key findings was the stamp in Wine Amphora, Merritaton, the daughter of Pharaoh-Reformer Akhenaton and Queen Nefertiti. This shows the possible presence in the city of royal ties protected by the army.
Now, scientists should determine the exact dimensions of the settlement, the old name and the role of the new kingdom in the administrative system.
