Scientists of Novgorod State University of Medicine and South Ural State Medical University have created a model to assess the risk of developing preeclampsia in pregnant women. This is a great complication that can threaten the life and health of the future mother and fetus and at the same time lead to premature birth. This “Gazeta.ru” was told about the Russian Federation at the Ministry of Education and Science.
Preeklampsia is one of the most common complications of pregnancy. Increased blood pressure, visual impairment, nausea or pain in the upper abdomen, headache, presence of protein in the urine, and often characterized by common edema.
95 women participated in the study, 66 of them observed a moderate and severe additions during pregnancy. The control group had 29 women without preeclampsis. Family and personal past, pregnancy results and molecular genetic characteristics of patients were examined. The focus of the study was made on genes such as PAI-1, NOS3, CYP11B2 and AGTR1.
Based on the data obtained, moderate and severe preeclampsia early forecasts model was developed. The accuracy of the model was 92%. The prognosis of the development of preeclampsia is a difficult task because pathology usually passes through asymptomatic or blurred symptoms. Moreover, the complication can significantly affect the course of pregnancy and birth and the health status of newborns, but also because of the death of a mother or child. Therefore, it is very important to develop new methods for the prediction of the development of this state.
The prognostic model developed by scientists was introduced at the hospital of the Uugmu clinic.
