Scientists from the University of California University Business Administration found that a transparent salary policy encouraged employees to demand a high rate and that low -paid employees were “small content .. Research Results published Journal of Business Ethics (JBE).

Scientists have entered into such consequences as a part of the four laboratory experiments as part of three different studies. Volunteers hired in Amazon Mechanical Turk, a special web source that allows employers to transfer some tasks to a wide variety of applicants. The researchers collected data on the salaries of the participants, the desire to progress on career ladder and motivation for such progress. The results showed that when comparing employees’ salaries from their colleagues, their demands may grow or fall depending on how close their performance ratings are.

People who occupy a leading position believe that they have a significant right to receive a higher salary and require a more increase. Low -paid employees, on the contrary, want to promote less often on a career staircase and sometimes think that they do not deserve it.

The study questions the assumption that a transparent salary policy helps to reach justice and improve the moral situation of employees. According to scientists, employees react not only to how much their colleagues earn, but also to the best to be the best.
