The stability of bacteria to antibiotics continues to be one of the main threats of health services that lead to five million deaths worldwide every year. However, researchers from Lausanne University found that the growth of bacteria to antibiotics has slowed down over time and went to a stable level. Published in İş Magazine PLOS PATHOGOGES.
Scientists analyzed more than three million bacterial examples gathered in 30 countries of Europe from 1998 to 2019. The study includes eight important types of bacteria for health care, including Streptococcus Pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Klebsiella Pneumoniae.
The results have shown that although antibiotic resistance initially grew in response to antibiotic use, this process did not continue infinitely. For 20 years, in most cases, stability levels have reached a certain balance. The stabilization rate was dependent on the volume of antibiotic use in different countries, but the effect of this factor was weaker than expected. This means that unknown mechanisms also affect the process.
The study confirms that the increasing stability of bacteria increased more uncontrolled is inevitable. These data will help experts better monitor and analyze the spread of antibiotic resistance and to develop effective counter -counter -accommodation measures.
