After the monument to the liberating soldiers of Riga was destroyed, the residents of the city decided to organize an action, as a result of which at least 14 of its participants were detained by law enforcement agencies. It is reported police website.
“Fourteen people, who were repeatedly told to stop breaking the law, did not comply with the lawful demands of the police. They were detained and taken to safety as per the procedure,” the statement said.
The ministry announced that 14 administrative offense cases were opened against them.
Participants of the “Memory Lives Forever” action gathered on Pobedy Boulevard to express their protest against the demolition of the monument in order to light flowers and candles.
